Blueberry Streusel Cookies à la Mode: The Dessert That Thinks It's a Sundae

Let’s set the scene: It’s a cozy afternoon, you’ve got your stretchy pants on, and something warm, sweet, and slightly over-the-top is calling your name from the kitchen. Enter: Blueberry Streusel Cookies à la Mode—aka, the cookie that said, “why not be a full dessert?”

We’re talking soft, buttery cookies studded with fresh blueberries and swirled with jam. Topped with a crunchy brown sugar streusel. Baked until golden. Then—we level up—topped with vanilla ice cream, a drizzle of more jam, and extra crumble. It’s like a fruit crisp and a cookie got together and made a masterpiece.

You’ll Need:

For the Cookies:

  • ½ cup unsalted butter (room temp)

  • ½ cup light brown sugar (packed)

  • ½ cup granulated sugar

  • 1 egg (room temp)

  • 2 tsp vanilla extract

  • 1¾ cups all-purpose flour

  • 1 tbsp milk

  • ½ tsp salt

  • ¾ tsp baking powder

  • ¼ tsp baking soda

  • 1 cup blueberries

  • ¼ cup blueberry jam

For the Streusel Topping:

  • 3 tbsp butter

  • ¼ cup light brown sugar

  • ⅓ cup flour

  • ½ tsp cinnamon

  • ¼ tsp salt

How to Make Magic:

1. Preheat & Prep:
Set your oven to 350°F. Line a baking sheet with parchment paper. Set aside.

2. Cream It Up:
In a mixing bowl, cream together the butter, brown sugar, and granulated sugar until light and fluffy (about 2 minutes). Scrape the sides like a pro.

3. Add the Good Stuff:
Add your egg and vanilla. Beat until smooth and dreamy.

4. Keep adding:
Now add the flour, baking powder, baking soda, and salt. Start on low so flour doesn’t fly, then increase to medium until just combined. Stir in the milk. No overmixing. We’re baking, not lifting weights.

5. Fold & Swirl:
Gently fold in the blueberries. Dollop in the blueberry jam and fold a few times—think “gentle swirl,” not “blueberry tornado.”

Make That Streusel:

In a small bowl, mix the butter, brown sugar, flour, cinnamon, and salt with a fork until crumbly and fabulous.

Scoop & Bake:

  • Scoop 1½ tablespoons of dough onto your baking sheet, spaced 3 inches apart (they spread!).

  • Top each with a generous spoonful of streusel—don’t be shy and gently press it into the dough.

  • Bake for 12–15 minutes until the edges are golden and the middles look slightly soft.

  • Let them cool slightly or eat one warm and live your best life.

The À La Mode Moment:

Now for the main event:
Top your warm cookie with a scoop of vanilla ice cream, a spoonful of blueberry jam, and a sprinkle of extra streusel.
It’s not dessert. It’s a whole mood.

Take a bite. Close your eyes. Repeat.
Dessert goals: achieved.
